It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (6/23/14)

This meme is hosted by Sheila of BookJourney. :)

Week 1 of summer vacation. :) Recently acquired Instagram on my phone so I've been playing around with it. It's been a good week.

1. Gave my friends a tour around UCSD. (Stone bear.)
2. Had lunch at K-Pasta with Kevin. It's a gem of a restaurant in Imperial Beach. I love their vodka cream & sausage sauce along with their amazing varieties of pasta--organic, kale, pumpkin, beet, shell...so many types.
3. Went for coffee at Lestat's with Christine and Poly. I forgot to take a picture of our drinks before we finished them. Lestat's is a San Diegan 24/7 coffee shop business.
4. Celebrated my brother's birthday with the family. Chocolate cake and Chinese takeout. Yum.

I finished:

The Deep by Jen Minkman
This is the third installment in Jen Minkman's The Island novella series, which takes place in a post-apocalyptic world in which the inhabitants of an island are descendants of children who were spared from the plague. The first two novellas in the series were The Island and The Waves.

X-Men: Days of Future Past
Finally wrote up my thoughts on the latest X-Men movie. Fassbender as Magneto is so intense. I also enjoyed the action scenes a lot.

What I'm Reading:

Bentwhistle the Dragon in A Threat from the Past by Paul Cude
A story about dragons with disguises infiltrating the human race.

Thanks for checking out my post! How was your week?

  1. I really need to give the X-Men movie franchise another chance. I'm still bitter how poorly they handled the Phoenix!

    1. Hello thechroniclesofachildrensbookwriter, I totally understand about the Phoenix. >_< They patched some of those problems up in this movie. ;) I really liked the direction that they took starting in X-Men: First Class. Maybe you can try that one out first.

    1. Hello Irene! Isn't the cover art for The Deep just gorgeous??? The premise is intriguing indeed. If you're interested then start with the first one, The Island (the ebook is free on Amazon!).
